You’ve heard of 420… but have you heard of 710?
July 10th—aka 710 Day or National Oil Day—is the unofficial holiday for all things concentrates. Flip “710” upside down and what do you get? “OIL.” It’s the perfect name for a day that celebrates the potent, flavorful world of cannabis extracts—like wax, shatter, live resin, and more.
So… What Are Concentrates?
Cannabis concentrates are highly potent extracts packed with THC and terpenes. While your top-shelf flower may test around 20% THC, concentrates often land between 40% and 80%—sometimes even higher. That’s 3–4 times the potency, making these products popular for those looking for stronger effects, faster onset, or enhanced flavor.
From Ancient to Advanced
Concentrates have been around for centuries—starting with traditional methods like charas and dry sift, used in South Asia and the Middle East. Then came ice water hash, or bubble hash, which introduced cleaner mechanical separation.
As cannabis tech evolved, solvent-based extraction hit the scene, producing high-THC options like shatter and live resin. Now, consumers can choose between both solvent-based and solventless options—depending on their preferences for purity, flavor, or intensity.

Let’s Talk Diamonds

Diamonds are a type of cannabis concentrate known for their crystal-like appearance and ultra-high potency. These solid extracts are made of nearly pure THCA (tetrahydrocannabinolic acid)—which converts to THC when heated. Made through techniques like diamond mining (using closed-loop extraction or crystallization), diamonds can reach up to 99% THCA, making them one of the most powerful concentrates available.
Liquid Diamonds, on the other hand, are a mix of THCA diamonds and live resin—offering the same knockout potency, but with enhanced flavor and a more fluid consistency. Think of THC diamonds as a straight shot of espresso, while liquid diamonds are a layered, terp-rich latte.
Heads up for first-timers: Diamonds are strong. Really strong. If you’re new to concentrates, talk to one of our budtenders to make sure you’re starting with the right product and dose.

How to Store Your Concentrates
Keep your concentrates fresh and flavorful:
-
- Short-term: Store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container (some can go in the fridge—check the label).
-
- Long-term: Freeze if needed, but vacuum seal and avoid constant thawing. Also, don’t store near food—concentrates love to soak up smells.

Not Just for Dabs Anymore
Concentrates aren’t limited to dab rigs. You can enjoy them in a variety of ways with products from your local dispensary:
They can be added or pre-rolled into joints, blunts, or bowls
Buy as an infused edible or infuse them into homemade edibles (just remember to decarb them first—240°F for 30 min!)
Pre-filled vape pen or cartridge or consumed in portable device like a PuffCo
Tinctures or capsules that can be taken directly under the tongue or mixed into a beverage
